Meet Suma Surabhi

"Creativity has always been part of who I am."

Long before there was a studio, there were balloon arches made for family birthdays — small, joyful projects Suma took on simply because she loved them. That love for making things beautiful eventually caught someone else's eye, and she was asked to design decor for a wedding reception. She had no formal event background and only basic supplies, but she said yes anyway — and the response convinced her this was more than a hobby. Surabhi Event Decor was born soon after.

The road since has been anything but smooth. Moving from India meant she already understood many traditions deeply, but India's regional customs are vast, and every client has taught her something new. The steepest learning curve wasn't design — it was people: understanding what each family needed and staying patient enough to deliver her best work every time.

Today the studio specializes in Indian wedding decor, building most mandaps and setups from scratch around each couple's own traditions rather than a fixed catalog — with close attention to color, texture and cultural detail. Suma is quick to credit her family for making it all possible: her daughter's steady encouragement, and the patience of her husband and son, who helped her balance building a business with running a home.
